Design-Build HVAC Project Manager / Estimator – St. Cloud Division
**NO AGENCIES PLEASE**
- Design / Pre-Construction – develop efficient, code-compliant HVAC solutions for commercial and light-industrial facilities.
- Estimating / Business Development – prepare competitive, self-performed design-build proposals, present to owners & GCs, and close profitable work.
- Project & Field Leadership – oversee union sheet-metal, pipefitter, plumbing, and service crews to deliver projects safely, on budget, and to Kraft’s quality standards.
Primary Duties

Design & Engineering
|
• Perform load calcs, equipment selection, duct/pipe sizing, and control schematics.
• Coordinate with in-house automation, plumbing, and BIM teams. • Stamp drawings (if PE) or manage third-party engineer of record. |
Estimating & Sales
|
• Prepare conceptual and lump-sum budgets using Quotesoft, FastPIPE, or similar.
• Perform site walks and scope reviews; identify value-engineering options. • Write clear proposals with defined inclusions/exclusions. |
Project Management
|
• Develop CPM schedules, procurement logs, and manpower plans.
• Issue RFIs, submittals, and change-order requests. • Track costs in Spectrum/Procore; forecast margin monthly. |
Field & Service Oversight
|
• Lead union foremen; enforce safety (OSHA 30 mindset).
• Support service techs on complex start-ups and warranty calls. • Coach apprentices; promote a culture of continuous improvement. |
Client & Stakeholder Relations
|
• Act as single point of contact for owners, GCs, and design partners.
• Negotiate subcontract terms in line with Minn. Stat. §337 and pay-if-paid limitations. • Represent Kraft at pre-bid meetings, punch walks, and turnover meetings. |
- Load calculation software familiarity (e.g., Trane TRACE 3D), AutoCAD/Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel.
- Familiarity with Pipefitters 455/539, Plumbers 15/34, Sheet Metal 10 work rules and crew composites.
- Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
- Valid HVAC license or certifications
- Effectively managing teams, build strong relationships, and navigate risks
- AS/BS in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management – or equivalent field experience.
- MN PE license preferred; LEED AP or CPD a plus.
- 7 + years in commercial HVAC design-build or large-scale install; minimum 2 years in an estimating or PM leadership role.

Building Automation Systems (BAS) Division Manager

Kraft Mechanical is looking to hire a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Division Manager! In this role you will perform installations, repairs, and maintain computer-based systems that control and monitor a building’s mechanical equipment including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), and energy management systems. Kraft installs Niagara-based systems utilizing JCI Fx & Honeywell WEBs controllers.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead the BAS employees to implement strategic goals, optimize performance and align with the company’s overall mission and objectives.
- Responsible for keeping abreast of new technology in controls products, product design, and energy code requirements.
- Manage the daily work activities for personnel to ensure that safe, efficient and quality work is provided.
- Manage the training program to help improve the skill level of the building automation staff.
- Lead and develop processes and documentation on productivity improvements.
- Manage projects to a successful completion ensuring, on time, on budget and customer satisfaction.
- Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and allocate resources efficiently. Ensure the project stays on budget and make recommendations for cost-effective measures.
- Work closely with Mechanical and HVAC Service Project Managers to provide solutions for their customers’ BAS requirements.
- Ensure service contracts are renewed, performed and PM reports are sent to the customer.
- Responsible for ensuring Environmental, Health, and Safety standards are adhered to, and an overall culture of safety and compliance is maintained.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities to perform duties effectively:
- Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems and HVAC principles.
- Strong understanding of business functions such as finance, operations, and marketing.

Required Education & Experience

Commercial Plumbing Estimator
Description:
We are looking for a full-time Commercial Plumbing Estimator, who is responsible for evaluating and estimating the cost, bid specifications and drawings involved in plumbing projects and ensuring that all required items are completed to successfully bid projects, specifically for commercial buildings and properties.
This role requires technical knowledge and the ability to assess materials, labor, and time required to complete plumbing installations and repairs.
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Analyze project blueprints, specifications, and other documents to determine the scope of work and materials needed for plumbing installations and repairs.
- Calculate material and labor costs to prepare detailed estimates for commercial plumbing projects.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining project quality and compliance
- Conduct site visits to assess existing plumbing systems, identify potential issues, and ensure accurate estimation.
- Meet with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to discuss project requirements and specifications.
- Collaborate with suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and equipment required for plumbing installations.
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, and overhead costs, and present them to clients or project managers.
- Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and project-related documentation.
- Monitor project progress and compare actual costs to estimates, making adjustments as needed.
- Identify potential risks associated with plumbing systems, including compliance with local codes and regulations, and suggest mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that all plumbing work complies with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety standards, environmental considerations, and industry codes.
Your knowledge, skills, and abilities should include:

Project Manager
Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing projects within the decided-upon budget, timeline, and scope. They will also effectively monitor and present project updates to relevant stakeholders, clients, or project team members. Design-build experience is a plus!
Responsibilities to include but not limited to:
- Review mechanical drawings and specifications for completeness and best practices
- Consult with vendors, subcontractors, and Kraft Mechanical staff to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Analyze blueprints and construction documents to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Conduct site visits or walk throughs as required to assist with estimates
- Manage awarded projects from beginning to end
- Plan, execute, and finalize projects within budgets and timelines
- Coordinate and direct field staff and sub-contractors for awarded projects
- Set and manage project expectations with team members and sub-contractors
- Plan and schedule project timelines
- Attend project meetings
- Request bonds when called out in bid documents
- Complete and deliver project close-out documents
Qualifications:
- Prefer Bachelor’s Degree. If no degree, High school diploma or GED along with a St. Paul or Minneapolis Competency Card is required;
- Minimum 5 years of related field experience required
